This run down corner of Ipswich town centre, where the upper part had fallen into disuse, was revitalised at a budget to provide rental accommodation. The originally down-beat feel of the building was uplifted by a dramatic, but economic, scheme of bold elevational decoration and lighting. Whilst initially sceptical the Council’s planning officers subsequently considered this to have been instrumental in enlivening and improving the appreciation of the neighbourhood.
